- First-half, film's honest intentions.

- Post-interval portions, too many parallel plots, unnecessary diversions, songs that pop up like burnt toasts, and dialogues that read out of a rejected TV soaps debut episode.

- Intent of the movie is sincere, but lacks execution. We expected more out of Priyadarshan.

- Watch it for a fresh perspective on 'love' and if you can do with lusterless screenplay and dull stars.

Rangrezz is a powerful social drama that brims with the urgency of the young and the audacious. Its ideology may be deeply flawed but perhaps that’s the point the film is trying to make: being clueless; and often misguided while being young is probably the right way towards self-discovery.

Priyadarshan loses track mid way and instead of exploring new ground often falls back on his tried and tested formula which seems outdated. Had the screenplay focused on the dynamics and interpersonal play between the friends and lead to a climax that wasn’t bulldozed by heavy dramatics and lengthy dialogues, Rangrezz might have had a different verdict.

Priyadarshan has been growing so steadily unwatchable these days that you fear the worst when you step into Rangrezz, a remake of the Tamil hit Naadodigal. As the film unspools, each of those fears come true: this is rock-bottom. It's all down to the treatment, which is relentlessly loud and blaring. Some of the lines are so crass they make you wonder : is this the same director who's given us Viraasat, and Gardish? The good news? Priyadarshan can only go up from here.
