Chashme Baddoor Review

What's Good:
The slapstick comedy, attention grabbing scenes, catchy dialogues which are wild, naughty and witty, but never vulgar (e.g. Bomb woh thi, blast main ho gaya!) and innocence of the movie which is preserved when compared to old 'Chashme Buddoor'.
What's Bad:
We can't think of any!!!
Verdict:
This is David Dhawan’s wickedest comedy since Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. This will keep you shaking with laughter throughout!
Watch or Not:
Do watch it boss! It's definitely worth the popcorn and coke.

CHASHME BADDOOR encompasses the spirit of the original, but has been customised to entice the present-day spectators. An entertainer with dollops of humour and wild situations thrown in, this one's a laugh-riot that should not be missed!

The answer's yes - love can be remade and so can a lovely film like 1981's Chashme Buddoor (CB). This version's as different as paapri chaat from a dhokla. But it retains the original's madness, masti and movie-mania. But the star remains the story, spicily modernized, yet its salt still that passion for filmi fun, rainy moments, shared chattris, judwaa bhais, overpowering Ma's, red coats-yellow pants (Dhawan clearly enjoying a Govinda flashback), cheap shers, cheaper lusts and triumphant love. Watch it zaroor. NOTE: You will not like this movie if you don't like corny, occasionally bawdy jokes.

If you're willing to leave the memory of the earlier film at the door, there's a chance you might enjoy the rat-a-tat sparring between the leads, and you might even find yourself chuckling at some of the crude humour. Like junk food, it has no nutritional value. But an occasional bite doesn't hurt.

Chashme Buddoor delivers the occasional laugh but the level of the joke is someone slapping someone else or a tired Bollywood reference. If you can settle for that, check it out.

David Dhawan does unexpected with 'Chashme Baddoor'. Despite no real connection with the original, this new-age twisted remake is a laugh riot.

Watch Chashme Baddoor by all means if you nurture no reverence for Hindi cinema’s past, for whatever it is worth. Watch it for all the frenzied dancing, prancing and romancing. It tries to eke out a laugh-a-minute ride by resorting to methods that one thought had gone out of currency with Govinda. If the original was a soothing and timeless melody, this is a raucous and forgettable item number. Give it a shot if you must, but don’t expect the world from it.

In Hindi cinema, there is a reason David Dhawan enjoys the epithet of the King of Comedy – and from the King’s treasure chest, the film is a gem. Three stars for the re-loaded ‘Chashme Baddoor’ – not to be missed, this one!

Chashme Baddoor is a creatively made remake, which refreshingly refashions its predecessor. David Dhawan has finally managed to leave his flamboyance back in the 90s, coming of age giving his genius the undue pending credit of years. The film valiantly holds its ground with humor and hilarious poetry. This one is a definite must watch!

'Chashme Baddoor' is exactly like any other film David Dhawan film, it is a good time pass. There is no clever humour but there is enough comedy to assure a few genuine laughs.

This film could have be another of those puerile comedies that we are subjected to day in and day out. But calling it a remake of a classic film seems like a crime. Pick the old over the new this weekend.

Intended to be a breezy comic romp, the film is woefully short of wind in its sails despite all the bluff and bluster that it whips up. As a matter of fact, Chashme Baddoor doesn’t deserve to be designated as a remake: it demolishes much more than it actually makes. Why remake a classic if you can't improve upon it? Truly bad-door.

There is enough color on screen to keep you engaged, but the same can’t be said about the punches and one liners in the script. Chashme Baddoor feels like a forced attempt to please its audience.

Chashme Baddoor is an unnecessary remake. Unnecessary is right. During one of the songs, I saw a board that reads, ‘Please don’t touch artefacts.’ I rest my case.

Statutory warning: This is a David Dhawan film. Any resemblance to anything sensible is purely coincidental. Any resemblance to the original film Sai Paranjpye made in 1981 is foolish. There are two ways you would enjoy this film: Either you haven't seen the original, or if you are sporting enough not to compare.
